* A new report by Argentina-based think tank Instituto de Estudios sobre la Realidad Argentina y Latinoamericana (IERAL) has highlighted that volumes of beef exports from the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) trade bloc formed by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay reached record levels in 2022. It said that the four countries exported a total of some 3.4m tonnes (t) of beef last year, 16.4% higher than in 2021. Three of the four countries (Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay) exported record levels of beef (2.0m t, 630,000 t and 334,000 t respectively) while Uruguay also exported high levels (396,000 t).
