Alberto Fernández has issued a decree establishing the ‘Bridge to Employment’ programme, which seeks to encourage the hiring of those who receive social, educational or employment benefits. According to the decree, which was published in the official gazette, the new programme establishes that private sector employers who hire new workers participating in social, educational or employment programmes will receive a reduction on their employer’s social security contributions, which will be compensated with contributions from the national treasury. Employers will also have the option to use the cash allocation from the social programmes to contribute towards paying these new workers. The programme will enter into force on 1 October and will be applied to employment contracts that begin during the following 24 months. Employers will benefit from the programme during the first 12 months of a new employee’s contract.
