BRAZIL | Lula meets business leaders. Brazil’s left-wing former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2011) held a private lunch with business leaders from the Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo (Fiesp) on 5 July to assuage concerns about his proposed economic policies. He was accompanied in this endeavour by his centre-right business-friendly vice-presidential candidate, Gerardo Alckmin.
