*Jorge Hernando Pedraza, the secretary general of the Andean Community (CAN) trade bloc which comprises Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, has revealed that in 2021 China was the main destination for CAN’s exports in 2021 which totalled US$136.4bn, representing 19.3% of total exports, followed by the US (18.5%) and European Union (11.8%). He also said that China was the main source of imports to the CAN, accounting for 25.1% of the total which came to US$150.0bn followed by the US (20.2%), European Union (11.6%) and Southern Common Market (Mercosur) countries of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay (6.1%).
