In brief: Mexico’s Aeroméxico restructuring approved
* Mexican airline holding company Grupo Aeroméxico, has announced that a US bankruptcy court has approved its restructuring plan. The approval of the plan allows Aeroméxico, which saw passenger numbers drop by up to 91% during the height of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, to complete the bankruptcy process. Aeroméxico CEO Andrés Conesa stated it was “a very important day for the Aeroméxico family”. The airline had filed for Chapter 11 protection in the US in July 2020, which permits reorganisation under US bankruptcy laws, after experiencing financial difficulties due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
