* The United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac) has released its annual report Preliminary Overview of the Economies 2021, in which it forecasts that the region will suffer a slowdown in economic growth in 2022, with Brazil to see the slowest growth of all. Eclac forecasts that Brazil’s economy will grow just 0.5% in 2022, after seeing 4.7% GDP growth in 2021. Growth across Latin America and the Caribbean is expected to average 2.1% this year (after a 6.2% average expansion in 2021), while South America will see average 1.4% growth.
