* The Brazilian government has completed a tender in which it sold the concession for two different port terminals, in the port of Santos, São Paulo state, and the port Imbituba, Santa Catarina. The 25-year concession for the STS08A terminal in Santos was acquired by the state-controlled oil company, Petrobras, the only bidder, for R$558.25m (US$99.5m). A second terminal in Santos, the STS08, failed to attract any bidders. The 10-year concession for the IMB05 terminal in Imbituba was sold to Fertilizantes Santa Catarina for R$200,000. Although both leases were sold to the sole bidder and one of the terminals on offer failed to attract any interest, the infrastructure ministry has described the tender as
“the biggest auction in the history of the port sector”, citing more than R$700m pledged in investment.
