* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures for its monthly index of economic activity (Emae), which expanded 10.8% year-on-year in June, largely due to the low basis of comparison given the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic on the economy in June 2020. This is the fourth consecutive month of Emae growth, following expansions of 13.6% year-on-year in May, 29.4% in April, and 11.9% in March. In seasonally-adjusted terms, Argentina’s economic activity was up 2.5% in June compared with May. In annual terms, only activity in the agricultural, livestock, hunting & forestry sector and financial intermediation services contracted (-4.5% and -0.9% respectively). Other sectors saw a strong performance, notably fisheries (+108.7%); community, social and personal service activities (+79.4%) and construction (+32.3%).
