MEXICO | The road to economic recovery. The economy expanded by 7% year-on-year in the first half of 2021, according to figures released by the national statistics institute (Inegi). Much of this was down to a second-quarter expansion of 19.7% due to a low base of comparison in the same period in 2020 when restrictions were imposed in an attempt to contain the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and the economy contracted by as much as 18.7% year-on-year.
