* Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) has released its monthly survey of private sector economists, which showed growing optimism among these of a stronger-than-anticipated recovery from the economic impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The survey found that the private economists predict GDP growth of 5.8% in 2021, following the 8.2% contraction of the Mexican economy in 2020. This growth forecast is higher than that reported to the survey in April, when the private economists estimated GDP growth of 5.16% in 2021. However, survey respondents predicted that the speed of recovery would tail off dramatically in the coming years, predicting growth of 2.8% in 2022 and 2% in 2023.
