New phase of drug wars predicted. Anabel Hernández, a journalist and the author of the recently published book
Los Señores del Narco ('The drug lords'), the fruit of five years' research, predicts that a new phase of Mexico's drug wars is on its way — between the retail drug traffickers. This, she says, is worrying even the bosses of the big cartels, because the retail traffickers are uncontrollable; 'they are owners of their streets and that's it.' The retail traffickers 'don't know El Chapo [boss of the Sinaloa cartel], nor do they care about this: they won't obey him; they recognise no master.'
