* In a press conference Mexico’s public security minister Alfonso Durazo has said that, as part of the government’s plan to fight fuel theft, it had blocked the accounts of 13 companies which had franchises of the state-run oil firm Pemex and sold stolen fuel. Durazo also said that as well as modifying the fuel distribution scheme and protecting oil pipelines, the government is developing a tactical and technological plan with the defence ministry (Sedena), the navy (Semar), Pemex, and the federal police (PF) to proactively anticipate and tackle acts of sabotage. He also revealed plans to create a specialised police unit to investigate related money laundering.
