A statement by the federal public security ministry said that under the ‘Frontera Segura’ operation 300 members of the federal police (PF) and the national public security force (FNSP) will be deployed to border areas in the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Paraná, Rondônia, Roraima, and Santa Catarina to reinforce security in “strategic points” to prevent the commission of transnational crimes. The statement adds that the operation will last until November but that it can be extended if necessary.
