Chile: Chile’s finance ministry has said that the government has revised its GDP growth projections to 3.8% for the year, up from 3.5% when President Sebastián Piñera took office in March. Finance Minister Felipe Larraín presented the new projections to a congressional commission. The projections included a small increase in inflation from 2.8% to 2.9% and an increase in internal demand from 4.1% to 4.8%. According to Larraín, an increase in the price of copper – Chile’s main export – is partly responsible for the revisions, although growth could be affected if the US-China trade war continues to worsen.
