Colombia: Colombia’s national federation of coffee growers has revealed that coffee production in May totalled 1.18m sacks (each sack weighing 60kg), up 32% compared with the same month of 2017 in which 901,000 sacks were produced. Coffee exports also increased by 15% in May during which 961,000 sacks were exported compared with 834,000 sacks in May 2017. The same figures show that in the first five months of 2018 the coffee harvest amounted to 5.4m sacks, up 2% on the 5.3m sacks produced during the same period of 2017. Finally, the federation stated that in the past 12 months from June 2017 to May 2018 the yield of coffee beans surpassed 14.3m sacks, up 1% on the almost 14.2m sacks harvested during the same period of 2017.
