COLOMBIA: Movement on Venezuelan border

Just after publication of the Colombian police report on border security, President Alvaro Uribe announced that the military presence along the border with Venezuela would be strengthened, and drug crop eradication intensified, to prevent crossborder movements of Colombian guerrillas. Venezuela recently deployed units of counterinsurgency cazadores (rangers) along border 'hot spots', and agreed on a joint antidrugs effort with the US, including aerial surveillance, in border areas.
