*Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto has named Baltazar Hinojosa Ochoa as his new agriculture minister. Hinojosa’s appointment follows the decision by his predecessor José Calzada to step down on 16 March to join the electoral campaign of the ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) ahead of the 1 July general election. Yesterday (4 April), Peña Nieto cited as the new minister’s priorities the need to continue the expansion of Mexican agriculture (Mexico is currently the 12
th-biggest food producer in the world), drive exports, and increase agricultural development.
