Argentina: Argentina’s GDP grew by 2.9% in 2017 after having contracted by 1.8% in 2016, the national statistics institute (Indec) has reported. In the last quarter of 2017 Argentina's GDP was up 3.9% compared with the last quarter of 2016 and up 1% on the third quarter of 2017. Indec’s report indicated that all quarters in 2017 showed positive growth compared with the previous quarter. Argentina's President Mauricio Macri celebrated the seventh consecutive quarter of economic growth in an interview with a Buenos Aires TV station, stating that “the worst is over”.
