* Brazil’s office of the presidency has issued a statement announcing that the government led by President Michel Temer will auction off 31 new concessions for infrastructure development projects in the second half of the year. According to the statement, the government is seeking to auction concessions for the building of 4,000kms of electricity transmission lines in 19 of the country’s 26 states valued at R$8.8bn (US$2.75bn) and seven new port terminals valued at R$1.3bn (US$395.7m). All the proposed projects form part of the government’s public-private investment partnership programme (PPI), under which the Temer administration hopes to carry out 175 development projects, 70 of which have already been delivered.
