Argentina: Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich has presented government plans to develop a new commuter rail network to service the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Dietrich said that the proposed Red de Expresos Regionales (RER) network will improve transport links between the national capital and surrounding areas to the benefit of the 1m people that commute to the capital every day and the 10m that live the Greater Buenos Aires Area. According to Dietrich, the government is looking to develop the project, expected to demand an initial investment of US$2.3bn, via public-private partnerships and it is now looking for interested private sector partners.
