Argentina: Argentina’s GDP is projected to rise 2% in 2018, well below the government’s projeciton of 3.5%, according to private consultancy company Ecolatina, cited in the local media. This reduction has been blamed on the drought currently affecting the Pampas region of the country. On 10 March Agroindustry Minister Luis Miguel Etchevehere visited producers in the province of Entre Ríos to show his support for those hit hardest by the drought. Public officials and representatives of the agro-industrial sector are expected to meet for the Expoagro 2018 conference beginning on 13 March to discuss, among other issues, the impact of the drought on production and the national economy.
