Chile: The central bank (BCCh) has released new figures for the monthly economic activity index (Imacec) which show this was up by 3.9% in January compared with the same month the previous year. The mining Imacec was up 8.6% in January 2018 compared with January 2017 while the non-mining Imacec was up 3.5%. The most recent (December 2017) figures from the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America & the Caribbean (Eclac) estimated that Chile closed 2017 with 1.5% GDP growth and forecasts 2.8% growth for 2018.
