Colombia: The national statistics department (Dane) has reported that the national unemployment rate stood at 11.8% in January. A Dane report noted that this means there were over 21.59m people employed last month, the highest January figure since 2001. The report added that this is the fourth consecutive January with over 21m people in work. However, the report points out that there has not been any significant variation in the unemployment rate compared with the 11.7% reported in January 2017. According to Dane, in the November 2017-January 2018 rolling quarter, the sectors that had the highest level of employment growth were agriculture, the cattle industry, hunting, and forestry & fishing.
