Latest gov’t-opposition talks collapse – as expected

Venezuela’s political opposition on 26 September said that it would not send representatives to the Dominican Republic (DR) for a proposed second round of talks on Venezuela’s internal crisis, citing the failure of the government led by President Nicolás Maduro to meet its conditions. The decision was no surprise, and Maduro will seek to capitalise on it.
