* Mexican naval special forces have carried out a series of operations against groups of oil thieves, known as ‘huachicoleros’, in the east-central state of Puebla. The targets were principally leaders of such groups, as well as businessmen who had been laundering money for them. The most prominent arrest, as announced by state governor Antonio Gali, was of huachicolero leader Othón ‘N’, known as ‘El Cachetes’. Gali made it clear that such operations would continue, declaring his commitment to working with government and the military to combat the issue of oil theft.
