CUBA: Havana remains defiant

Three weeks after President Donald Trump rolled back some of the efforts by his predecessor Barack Obama (2009-2017) to forge close ties between the US and Cuba, the Havana government remains defiant, celebrating a new political cooperation deal with the European Union (EU) – the first between the two – and reporting a recovery in economic growth in the first half. Nonetheless, a chill is already in the air, with US investor interest waning amid the new uncertainty over US policy.
