G1, Fernandes said he was “disappointed” the government had delayed salary payments for those working under his department, including university professors. Instead, it prioritised payments in other departments, meaning that teachers at state high schools, working under the education ministry, were paid on time whilst university professors have not been paid for several months. Despite leaving his post in local government, Fernandes has said he will continue as a federal deputy in congress.
