Argentina: On 23 June, the US embassy in Argentina announced that a recent conference had taken place attended by representatives from the Argentine government and US companies in order to “facilitate information-sharing and direct engagement to respond to questions about projects and bidding processes in Argentina”. An embassy press release notes that “under the US State Department Direct Line Program, the Embassy brought together Argentina’s Transportation Ministry and 106 U.S. construction and engineering services companies interested in railway, road and airport infrastructure projects in Argentina”. The press release notes Argentina’s transport minister, Guillermo Dietrich, presented the national infrastructure plan and the main projects in which companies could participate and highlighted public-private projects, for example “road networks to the cities of Bahía Blanca and Rosario, Roads 3 and 226 transformation works, and the extension of Roca railway lines to Vaca Muerta [shale gas deposits in southern Argentina], among others”.
