* Finance Minister José Antonio Meade Kuribreña has said that he expects that public spending cuts will continue to be implemented by the federal government in 2018, although “to a lesser extent” than in the last two years. Speaking during an interview, Meade said that the government was still determined to continue reducing the fiscal deficit to 2.5% by next year. The minister added that the cut in public spending next year could be equivalent to less than 0.4% of GDP but said that a preliminary figure will only be set out in the 2018 draft budget that the government must submit to the federal congress by September.
