Chile: The national association of customs officials (Anfach) has begun an indefinite strike, accusing the government led by President Michelle Bachelet of failing to honour previous agreements on improving pay and working conditions. According to Anfach, turnout yesterday (24 May) was at 95%. The strike has already prompted complaints from neighbouring Bolivia, where Gustavo Rivadeneira, the president of Bolivia’s chamber of heavy-duty transporters, claims that 850 Bolivian lorries transporting international goods have been stranded at the Bolivia-Chile border.
