The head of the Dominican Republic’s attorney general’s office (PGR), Jean Alain Rodríguez, arrived in Washington DC on 3 May to meet his US counterpart, Jeff Sessions. The two officials were scheduled to discuss cooperation in the fight against transnational crime. But the main topic of the meeting appeared to be the ongoing investigations in the Dominican Republic (DR) into the regional government corruption case involving Brazilian engineering firm Odebrecht. Sessions signalled his support for Rodríguez during the meeting, endorsing the PGR’s handling of the case.
