Chile: The Frente Amplio (FA), a coalition of small leftist opposition parties, has registered two candidates ahead of the 2 July presidential primaries and the November general elections: Beatriz Sánchez and Alberto Mayol. The most recent monthly survey by pollster Adimark showed Sánchez had shot up into third place since announcing her pre-candidacy last month, receiving 11% of voting preferences in April, up nine percentage points on the previous survey. The frontrunner remains former president Sebastián Piñera (2010-2014), who is taking part in primaries for the centre-right opposition Chile Vamos opposition coalition, on 24% (down three percentage points), followed by Senator Alejandro Guillier on 19% (down four percentage points), who has the backing of most of the parties members of the leftist ruling Nueva Mayoría coalition.
