Costa Rica: Gonzalo Ramírez Zamora, a deputy for the opposition Partido Renovación Costarricense (PRC), was elected president of Costa Rica’s unicameral national legislature for the 2017-2018 period, the final year of the current Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC) administration led by President Luis Guillermo Solís. One of two PRC deputies in the national assembly, Ramírez received the support of the main opposition Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN).
