Costa Rica’s security minister Gustavo Mata this month travelled to Colombia where he met high-ranking government officials like Defence Minister Luis Carlos Villegas and discussed cooperation efforts to combat transnational organised crime and narco-trafficking. Mata’s visit points to continuing efforts by the Costa Rican government led by President Luis Guillermo Solís to strengthen security ties with its neighbours.
