Some 1,500 people gathered on 19 March in the Parque Independencia in Santo Domingo, the terminus for a torch-led ‘pilgrimage’ to protest against corruption in the Dominican Republic. The social organisation Marcha Verde orchestrated the march which converged on the capital from each corner of the country, its numbers swelling over the course of the week.
