Argentina: On 10 December Noah Mamet was sworn-in as US Ambassador to Argentina by US Vice-President Joseph Biden at an official ceremony held at the White House. This followed his confirmation by the US Senate on 2 December. A top advisor to various Democratic presidential candidates and numerous Senate, House and Gubernatorial campaigns and the president of a consultancy firm, Noah Mamet & Associates, Mamet was nominated as ambassador by President Barack Obama in July 2013 to replace Vilma Martínez, who concluded the term of her four-year appointment that same month. The embassy has since been led by Chargé d'Affaires Kevin Sullivan. Mamet’s appointment has been criticised by figures like US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) due to the fact that Mamet has never been to Argentina.
