The government of President Ollanta Humala on 21 September hailed the success of the dialogue held with the country’s main political parties in the previous few weeks. The quest for consensus began after a collapse in the government’s public approval ratings, with President Humala’s personal approval falling to another new low of 27% in the latest Ipsos Apoyo opinion poll published on 15 September, the lowest since he took office in July 2011.
