Back to counting the drug-war dead

The new government has come up with a new set of statistics on deaths linked to the turf wars between drug trafficking organisations and associated criminal gangs. This is a practice its predecessors had discontinued and which seems to contradict the new government’s declared policy of focusing on violent crime in general. The figures, unsurprisingly, show a decline in these deaths since President Enrique Peña Nieto took office.
