Foreign Minister Antonio Patriota came under intense scrutiny in the senate on 11 July, where he was summoned to provide public testimony about Paraguay’s suspension from Mercosur to the foreign affairs committee, which rather ironically, is chaired by the impeached former Brazilian president Fernando Collor de Mello (1990-1992).
