The full dimension of what the Colombians call ‘parapolítica’ — the collusion between the paramilitary organisations and members of the political establishment — is beginning to emerge years after the demobilisation of the paramilitary groups, as are the awareness of the extent to which this collusion might remain unpunished and of the threat still posed by the groups that have been filling the gap left by the demobilisation.
