MEXICO: Justice system struggles

Mexico’s justice system has come under attack on various fronts in the wake of the controversial supreme court ruling regarding the case of French national, Florence Cassez [WR-12-12]. Two reports from national and international NGOs highlight the system’s inefficiency and inability to handle serious cases. They also criticise attempts to improve Mexico’s criminal proceedings code, which aims to improve the authorities’ capacity to solve crimes.
