Another sign of confidence
At the recent Río Group meeting at the beginning of February Latin American and Caribbean countries discussed the idea of adjusting their national accounting systems to take account of environmental issues when calculating GDP growth. The idea is to present a new system to the joint conference the Rio Group is planning with the UN on sustainable development in Rio de Janeiro in June.
