Experts named. On 14 February, the Peruvian government revealed the names of the three experts it has selected to review the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the highly controversial Conga mining project in Cajamarca. According to the electronic State contracts system (Seace), two Spanish environmental engineers, Luis López García and Rafael Fernández Rubio, along with a Portuguese geologist, José Martins Carvalho, have been chosen. The local press reports that the Spaniards have already signed a contract with the government, but Martins Carvalho has yet to do so.
