El Salvador: The trade deficit was US$2.8bn in the period January-October 2009, down 37.5% year-on-year over the same period of 2008. Exports totalled US$3.91bn, down 17.6% year-on-year, while imports came to US$6.0bn, down 28.3%. Traditional exports fell 2.3% to US$303.4m, while non-traditional exports fell to US$1.66bn, down 14.7%, and textile exports came to US$1.26bn, down 23.9%. Sales to the US, the country's main market fell 20.1% in the first ten months.
