Tracking trends

PANAMA | Highest growth rate in three decades. In the first half of this year the Panamanian economy grew at a rate of 8.1%, the highest in 30 years, according to economy and finance minister Carlos Vallarino. He said last week that the country is likely to grow at rates of 6-7% over the coming years, which could be increased by 1.5 points if the planned expansion of the Canal were to go ahead.
