BRAZIL: The sugar-cane harvest is forecast to reach a record 572m tons in 2007-2008, 15.2% bigger than in the 2006-2007 period. This will allow a record production of ethanol, some 21.3bn litres or 22% more than in the previous period according to forecasts.
