OIL & GAS: Production decline accelerates at Pemex

Petróleos Mexicanos shocked local oil analysts with its final production figures for 2007. In 2007 crude oil production fell by 5.3% to an average of 3.082m barrels per day (bpd). The main reason was a decline in output from Cantarell, the huge offshore field which accounts for a third of the country's total output. Cantarell's production, Pemex warned, will fall even more sharply from 2011.
