BRAZIL: Boost for Lula as congress shortens working week
On 14 October Brazil’s senate approved a constitutional amendment proposal (PEC) to reduce the maximum working week from 44 to 40 hours. This could boost the re-election bid of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who had made shortening the working week a key campaign pledge.
