COLOMBIA | Budget slashing with a political edge. On 20 September Colombia’s President Abelardo de la Espriella defended proposed budgetary cuts to the transitional justice system (JEP) in 2027 on the grounds that the ordinary justice system should be prioritised to clear case backlogs.
