CHILE: Codelco retains 100% of profit to deal with debt challenge

The government of President José Antonio Kast decided on 10 August that the profit earned by state-owned copper giant Codelco in 2025 (US$2.4bn) should be reinvested by the company in its entirety. It was the first time in the company’s history that the state did not take a share of Codelco’s profits.
